For a tasty, cold treat go to "Angelato", a gelato place. I had to try a large cup. I chose lemon (very tart - loved it) , dark chocolate- rich, and raspberry- also good. This is a popular place for kids.
The location is on 1 St. Mary's Street Mew. It is very close to the cathedral.
For tasty Polish food go to "Janosik", a Polish grocery store. I immediately felt at home there with the Polush food selections and the Polish language being spoken. There is some takeaway prepared food to heat up at home (pierogi, cabbage rolls). They have a great counter with fresh sausages. I went for the dried soup packets and my favorite carrot juice drink "Kubus" brand. This place is on New Bridge St, right around the corner from the gelato place above.
For delicious Italian food go to "Ask". A bunch of us went late after our concert. they are open til 11 pm usually. Most places in Truro close around 5 pm. The food was great. I ordered risotto, as I normally would not make that at home. I got the kind with cream, red bell pepper, tomato, garlic and basil. It was very creamy and filling. For a drink I got the Sicilian still lemonade (really just plain old lemonade). My husband ordered fettuccine with aubergine (eggplant) in a tomato sauce. The noodles were light and delicate. Probably homemade. For drink he ordered an"appletizer", a sparkling apple juice. The address is 76-77 Lemon St., Truro. www.askitalian.co.uk
We found this to be a great place to eat. Previously we have eaten at curry houses in Truro. They have been ok. I prefer eating at this Italian place.
